Shadows and Light

Sometimes when you touch me, there's a shadow
of all the ways that I've been touched before...
And sometimes, when you speak I hear the echoes
of voices that can't hurt me anymore.
And God only knows what I've been through,
And God only knows it's over...
The shadows are ghosts with no power of their own...
I've given them all that I see......
So, thank you for plumbing the darkness with me
and lighting the shadows away...
They can't hold me back when I let in the Light....
So I've opened the doors today.
